Week 4 – 24th March 2017

This week the children have been developing their understanding of addition and subtraction word problems, with particular emphasis on using money. In English, they have been writing their persuasive letter to Year 4, encouraging people to visit Pandora.

For homework the children have 6 spellings using the ‘ie’ and ‘ei’ letter patterns, Mymaths and they need to complete another section from the homework pyramid. This homework is due by next Friday (31st March). Children are more than welcome to bring their homework in early if they have completed it.

This week Lee Huxley (5E) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave him for always working hard and being a lovely member of the class’ and Amelie Rowe (5E) has her writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Kaitlyn Wingate (5F) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave her to always strive to improve her work’. Ashleigh Blofield (5F) has her work on the showstoppers wall too.

Just a reminder: any children who would like to go on the Stubbington residential need to have their deposits paid by March 31st. Also the Penitential Service will be held at school next Tuesday (28th March) from 10:20 onwards.

Lastly, we remember the people who were caught up in the tragic events on Wednesday. Year 5 children have prayed for the victims and their families during our worship times and some have written prayers for our class prayer books.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 5 team
