This week in Maths, the children have been practicing their skills in Geometry translating and reflecting shapes. In English, they have been collecting vocabulary about Ancient Egypt, described different scenes and written what they would see and how they would feel if they were archaeologists entering an undiscovered tomb.

Please continue to work on the spelling lists, using the strategies given. Children should have a list of personal spellings in their home learning diary from the Year 5/6 list or the ones given to them. Some children know that they need to practice spelling plural words including irregular ones.

Reading comprehension homework is due on Monday next week, when another one will be sent home. We are asking children to stay in at break and/or lunch to complete any homework that has not been brought to school, so please remind them to check that it is in their bag on Monday morning.

The children enjoyed some STEM work today, looking at how we could try to clean dirty water for drinking. They had to decide what material(s) would work bestĀ at filteringĀ the dirty water before experimenting with their ideas.

This week Chloe Lymer (5E) received the golden leaf award for her perseverance and becoming more independent with Maths tasks. Liam Tomkins (5E) has his writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Harrison Meadows (5T) received the golden leaf award for improved behaviour. Riley Morgan (5T) has his writing on the showstopper wall.

Have an enjoyable weekend,

The Year 5 team
