Welcome Back!
It was great to see so many refreshed faces yesterday and the children had lots of stories to tell about their Easter holidays.
This half term we will be learning about habitats. The home learning pyramid is attached and will also be sent home in your child’s home learning adventure book.
I have also attached the RE home learning, also in your child’s home learning adventure.
Click on attachments below.
We look forward to updating you all about our time in school soon.

Sharing Our Talents!
In school we have been learning all about the meaning of different parables. Today we heard the story of the Parable of The Talents. The children then interpreted the parable thinking about what it might mean for their lives today.
The children then painted a picture of their own talents and wrote about how they show God’s love. Unfortunately my pictures won’t upload (!) but children tell your parents what you painted.
The children are absolutely loving the Titanic topic and producing some really amazing home learning. The models have been outstanding! Matthew shared a PowerPoint with us today teaching us all about the menus that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers would have selected their meals from.
Please continue to bring in home learning, learn spellings and times tables!
Best wishes,
The Year 2 Team
Our Last Year 1 Blog!
Thanks to Mrs. Moncorger the children in years 1 and 2 had a fabulous time celebrating Bastille Day. This is what the children said…
Sihanua; “I enjoyed painting the Eiffel Tower.”
Joe; “The food was really nice. I really liked the croissants.”
Tilly; “We had to order our food in French!”
“Je voudrais un pain au chocolat!”
Aki; “We played Boules, it was fun.”
Thank you to all the grown ups who helped to organise the day. It has really inspired the children to learn about France and to learn to speak French.
We are nearly there! 4 school days to go. The children are very excited about their Summer holiday but are still working hard. Today we are creating a Beat Box version of the Grand Old Duke of York in time for a whole school challenge tomorrow to end our Arts Week!
Mrs. Allen and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your support throughout Year 1. We have had so much fun this year and will really miss the children. I am lucky enough to be moving to Year 2 with the children and am looking forward to seeing them in September and hearing all about their long, well deserved, holiday.
Look out for a special Summer holiday learning adventure that will be coming home on Monday. We would like the children to keep a scrap book / diary of their time away from school. Please also continue to read regularly (don’t forget the Waterlooville library challenge and Bug Club). Please also continue to practise number facts such as bonds, halves and doubles, odd and even, tens and units (how many tens in the number 35? How many units?). Count in different multiples – 2s, 5s, 10s and play the games on Abacus. It really does make a difference if you continue to practise these skills. It can all be done in a fun way and we most importantly want your children to have a fun filled holiday with time spent with their families.
All the best, see you in September!
God bless.

St Peter’s ‘Fest’ Preparation!
Well the day has arrived! Today we have spent the day preparing our stall for St. Peter’s ‘Fest’. We have been given £20 to invest to see how much money we can make. We have made about 200 bags of popcorn which we are going to sell for 50p. We are hoping to do really well with our ‘Junior Apprentice’ challenge.
We have made labels and leaflets and worked out how much change we will need when we are given different amounts to pay for the popcorn.
So roll up! Come and visit our stall at St. Peter’s ‘Fest’ tonight from 5.30. We also have a singing treat for you – ‘The Three Pigs’ live on stage!
See you there!
A Wonderful Day at Staunton!
To support our learning about animals we visited Staunton today.
It was a lovely day and for us, seeing the children in a different environment at this stage in year 1, was wonderful. We have created some real chatterboxes – full of excitement and curiosity. I really feel that we are becoming ready to move into year 2.
Home Learning
We were really inspired last week by the children from year 2 who came to visit us with their home learning. We have been enjoying listening to Hannah’s book about animals and were very impressed with Niamh’s home made guinea pig cage. She says she still hasn’t managed to persuade her mum to buy her a hamster! Niamh also brought in a nest from home. We were fascinated about how it had been so carefully made.
