Hello Dolphins and Turtles

We hope that you have all enjoyed this weeks learning. We loved seeing all your favourite toys and were delighted with the writing your toys inspired. We also made sandwiches to share with our toys.  In Numeracy we have been weighing and measuring and our toys even helped with that!

At the moment we are practising spelling the days of the week correctly.

Next week, we will carry on with our Toys topic and are turning all our focus to Lego!

We will also be developing our ability to tell the time and draw clock faces correctly.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

TOY TIME!

Hello Lovely Year 1,
On Tuesday 23rd February, we would love you to bring in your favourite character toy. We will be using them to help our learning. Here are some ideas about what you could bring in:
*a doll
* a superhero character
*a character from your favourite book
* a vehicle
* a soft toy

Please do not bring in anything with a screen such as a tablet or anything like Lego which has small parts which could easily get lost. We all look forward to meeting your favourite toys!

Thankyou,
Year 1 team.

What a half term!

We have had such a fantastic start to 2016 and we have all thoroughly enjoyed our ‘tale to tell’ topic about traditional stories.

Next half term we have a new topic ‘Toys’ There have already been some toy shops start to appear in our role play areas! Keep checking the blog for information to do with this topic as we may well need you to bring in your favourite toy from home! We will also upload the Home Learning pyramid to give you some ideas for over the half term break.

This week we say goodbye to the student teacher who has been with us this half term , Miss Fooks. I know everyone who has worked with Miss Fooks or has been taught by her will be sad to see her leave and we wish her much success as she completes her teacher training.

Hello Dolphins and Turtles

Another busy week has sped by and the children have worked brilliantly in all their learning.
We have spent time learning about the features of Non- Fiction texts, what the number bonds to 10 and 20 are and have also considered what we can learn from the parables of Jesus.

Next week is a short week as Friday is an INSET day. We also have our Green Day  afternoon which will be on Thursday.

Thank you for all the Home Learning that has been coming into school!

Keep checking Abacus and Bug Club and do let us know if you have run out of books.

Have a fantastic week,

Mrs Knight, Mrs Osborne, Miss Heaton

Sharing Our Talents!

In school we have been learning all about the meaning of different parables. Today we heard the story of the Parable of The Talents. The children then interpreted the parable thinking about what it might mean for their lives today.

The children then painted a picture of their own talents and wrote about how they show God’s love. Unfortunately my pictures won’t upload (!) but children tell your parents what you painted.

The children are absolutely loving the Titanic topic and producing some really amazing home learning. The models have been outstanding! Matthew shared a PowerPoint with us today teaching us all about the menus that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers would have selected their meals from.

Please continue to bring in home learning, learn spellings and times tables!

Best wishes,

The Year 2 Team
