Art – Voting for the Year 6 Habitats

Year 6 worked in groups over a term creating fantastic habitats.  They used a variety of skills and techniques from drawing, papier mache, collage, sculpting and painting as well as developing their collaborations skills. The habitats were then displayed in the hall and each child and members of staff had the opportunity to vote for their favourite one.  The winning habitats will be announced after half term.

Which one is your favourite?

Art Year 5 – Egyptian Pendants

Year 5 have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians this term.  They investigated why they wore jewellery and discovered that  jewellery was an important way that the Egyptians tried to get the attention of their gods. They thought that the more jewellery they wore, the more attractive they would be to the gods. Men and women who had great wealth usually wore the most jewels.

The children then designed their own Egyptians pendant, drawing it first before crafting it out of fimo clay, which then had to be baked in the oven.  Finally, they painted their pendant, thinking about the colours that would have been used in Ancients Egypt.  Here are a selection of them  –  I’m sure you’ll agree that they are truly amazing!

More of the children’s  exquisite pendants will  be on display in the school entrance, so make sure you have a look!

Art Year 3
