Week 6 – 14th July, 2017

This week the children have been recapping their knowledge of finding volume and also finding area and perimeters of simple and composite shapes. In English, they have been writing their text related to the Egyptian topic they have chosen. They have also enjoyed a ‘morning of mummification’ – learning about the Ancient Egyptian process, complete with all the gory bits!

For homework the children have 6 spellings with the ‘ci pattern; Mymaths and they need to complete a section from the homework pyramid. This homework is due by next Friday (21st July). Children are more than welcome to bring their homework in early if they have completed it.

This week Andrew Pearson (5E) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave him for always helping set up the classes in the morning, doing small jobs and using his time wisely to comlete work’ and Gabriel Ryan (5E) has his writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Sophie Cunningham (5F) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave her to always work hard and strive to improve her work.’ Omoniyi Akintunde (5F) has his work on the showstoppers wall too.

We hope the children had a lovely full transition day in Year 6 and will be refreshed for Monday from the weekend break.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 5 team
